02 The specialty

Built here, not swapped in

Anyone can pull a transmission and drop in a used one. Building means taking yours apart, finding what actually failed, replacing what is worn, and putting it back together to spec — so the fix lasts.

  • Every part checkedClutches, steels, bushings, bearings, seals and the pump.
  • Valve body and converter workThe usual cause of shifting complaints.
  • In and out, in one shopRemoval, build, installation and road test.

03 Warning signs

Know the symptoms

Transmission problems rarely fix themselves, and they get more expensive the longer they are driven.

  • Slipping between gears
  • Delayed or harsh engagement
  • Shuddering or vibrating under load
  • Whining, humming or grinding
  • Red fluid under the vehicle
  • A burning smell after driving

04 Inside the shop

Failed, then fixed

Every rebuild starts with a transmission somebody else gave up on. This is what they look like coming apart — and what goes back in.

An open transmission pan with clutch material and metal shavings piled around the magnet
Pan debris Clutch material and steel shavings packed around the pan magnet. When the pan looks like this, the damage inside is already done.
A screwdriver pointing to scored wear on a machined transmission surface surrounded by burnt, varnished fluid
Scored surfaces Wear where there should be none, and fluid cooked to varnish. Heat is what finishes off a transmission that was already struggling.
A crack running through the aluminium transmission case housing
Cracked case A crack through the housing. No rebuild fixes this — the case has to be replaced before anything goes back inside it.
A fully rebuilt transmission, cleaned and assembled, ready to go back into a vehicle
Rebuilt The same kind of unit, cleaned, built to spec and ready to go back in the vehicle.
